Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy has been used to treat almost every conceivable human illness or malady, including many inflammatory diseases such as arthritis or psoriasis.
Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy or PEMF consists of a painless pulsing action applied to any part of the body. It has most commonly been used in healing soft-tissue wounds and suppressing inflammatory responses at the cell membrane level to alleviate pain and increase range of motion in muscles and joints. It is FDA approved for the treatment of non-union fractures, failed fusions, and particularily for depression. PEMF therapy up-regulates the body’s functions and optimizes the body’s ability to heal itself.
In the case of bone healing, PEMF uses electrical energy to direct a series of magnetic pulses through injured tissue whereby each magnetic pulse induces a tiny electrical signal that stimulates cellular repair. It improves the permeability of the cell to take in nutrients and expel toxins by clearing up the cell membrane which is the brain of the cell. This outer layer gets clogged with sugars and proteins that become ”carmelized.” The stimulator reactivates the cell to be alive and flexible allowing the flow in and out.
There are more than 2,000 university studies demonstrating the effectiveness of PEMF for a wide range of conditions. Well-documented trials carried out by hospitals, rheumatologists, physiotherapists and neurologists have applied it to MS, neuropathy, and arthritis.
PEMF is effective with or without acupuncture stimulation, although I often see a synergistic effect by combining them together along with massage. The total effect is usually superb!
