Early Coverage in Santa Barbara

To review how we launched acupuncture in this country, here is an overview! In 1971, after studies in Chinatown and then in Hong Kong, we started the Institute of Taoist Studies. This became the National Acupuncture Assoc. We brought our teacher Dr. So back with us from Kowloon, and created an apartment for him in our garage in West L.A. We continued at the Acupuncture clinic at UCLA which we established in 1972–the first legal clinic in the country.. Then we moved to Boston in 1974 to run two clinics there and launched the Boston branch of the Hong Kong College of Acupuncture. This later became the New England School of Acupuncture, still going today. In 1976, Cottage Hospital lent me a room to teach Acupuncture. The following year I was given a classroom at the SB City College. Then I opened an office on State St. Here is one of several articles in the Santa Barbara paper. Exciting years!
